Information technology means the studies or use of systems for storing, retrieving and sending information. It is a generic name given to all improvements, that are taking place in our world due to the inter-linked advancement in technology, learning, and information. The term refers to recent technological developments, that are taking place in our world. It consists of a number of modern advancements such as a computer, internet, websites, surfing, e-mail, e-commerce, e-governance, video conference, cellular phones, paging, fax machines, smart cards, credit cards, ATM cards, etc. It has great importance. Information technology is used for storing, protecting processing, securing, transmitting, receiving, and retrieving information. In business establishments, it is used to solve mathematical and logical problems. Information technology helps in project management systems as well. Students can have access to various learning resources through this technology. We can also communicate with other people through it. The world is in your hand now. But this technology has not spread throughout our country. Only the people of big cities like Dhaka, Chittagong, etc. have access to its advantage. The people of rural areas are still deprived of its benefit. The main cause is the unavailability of the network there. Besides, people are not educated enough to operate and utilize them. The government should emphasize on this problem. We should help people understand the importance of information technology. We should also step up to promote education.
