The greatest Muslim festival Eid-ul-fitr is the biggest religious festival of the Muslims. It comes to us marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The Muslims in our country as everywhere throughout the world celebrate it with religious fervour. During the holy month of Ramadan the Muslims keep fasting because it is regarded as one of the five pillars of Islam. The month-long fasting gives us the opportunity to reshape our life in accordance with the teachings of Islam. Moreover, it prohibits us from doing all wrong, inhuman and harmful acts and at the same time develops fellow feeling and philanthropic mentality in us. Eid-ul-fitr comes to us to establish peace and harmony in the society. So, all kinds of falsehood and wrongdoing, which bring anarchy in the society, must be eradicated. Eid comes to us not only for enjoyment but also for our self-judgement and purification. On Eid Day we should have our hearty thanks and devotions to the Almighty Creator. In fact, Eid awakens in us the spirit that stimulates us in giving a concrete shape to the worldly and spiritual life. The common scene on Eid Day is exchanging greeting and embracing after prayers. We also visit family members, friends and neighbours and exchange our greetings. Eid teaches us the great qualities of charity and sharing and it is a symbol of unity and fraternity. So, we should celebrate this Eid Day with a view to establishing an exploitation-free society.
