A railway porter is a familiar figure at the railway station. He is a laborious man. He carries loads, bags, luggage, etc. He works from morning till night. Whenever the passengers get down from the train. he carries their bags or luggage to their desired goal. He bargains with the passengers for his payment. Sometimes, he gets the desired money while in most cases he gets less. The passengers become happy if they can give him less A railway porter is strong, stalwart, and well built. They wear poor dress. He cannot eat well. He has to maintain a large family. If he falls ill or fails to work, he is to starve. He lives from hand to mouth. His daily income is not enough to maintain his family. Sometimes, he is seen shouting for work. He loads and unloads the goods train. Thus a railway porter does a great job for us. He should not be looked down upon. He has to be well-paid.
