Due to the ongoing corona epidemic worldwide, HSC and equivalent examinations are not being taken this year. Students will be assessed based on the average of JSC, JDC, SSC, and Dakhil examination results. After the assessment, the results of HSC and equivalent examinations will be released. Education Minister said in a virtual press briefing on 08th of October, 2020.
Dipu Moni said, there is no guarantee when the situation of Covid-19 will be normal. To us of course the safety of the life of the examinees is the most important. Based on discussions with various stakeholders, it has been decided to evaluate the 2020 HSC and equivalent examinations in a slightly different way without directly accepting them. Assessing candidates without taking exams is completely new for education boards. As a result, it is important for us to know how the results will be accepted at home and abroad and whether it will have an adverse effect on the later life of the students. HSC and Alim candidates have already passed two public exams. Based on their results in those two exams, it has been decided to determine HSC and equivalent results.
The education minister said the evaluation was convened by an additional secretary of the ministry for proper verification and it was decided to form a committee with the chairman of the inter-education board coordination sub-committee and the chairman of the Dhaka education board as member secretaries. The committee will have one representative each from Dhaka University, BUET, National University, Chairman of the Technical Board, Chairman of Madrasa Education Board, and Department of Education.
At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Education mentioned that the evaluation system will be of international standard.
