Rahela, a Worse Victim of Gender Discrimination Story

Rahela is a village girl of a Muslim family She is waiting for her HSC results. She dreams to read in a University after the end of her HSC examination, She would be a teacher and will take care of the young students. She is also anxious of her conservative parents. They think otherwise. Educating a daughter is mere waste of time and money. So they decide to marry off their daughter. Her education stops as soon as she is married off. In her inlaw's house she remains busy all day long doing houschold chores. She does not have time to think about her dream of becoming a teacher. Rather she is to think over her husband and father and mother in laws. She has to keep the best food for male members in the family. She cannot raise her voice when they speak. She cannot go out of her family without the permission of her husband. In fact, she has to lead a chained life. When Rahela has given birth to a female child, she becomes more worried thinking about her own lot. But she becomes determined that she will never let it happen to her child that has happened to her own life. She said to herself, "I must make my child a teacher. I am ready to do everything to make my second dream a success." Cherishing this end in view Rahela begins to bring up her child.
