The 21t February is our Mother Language Day. It is a red-letter day. This day has great importance in the history of Bangladesh. Some heroic sons sacrificed their lives on 21st February in 1952. Consequently, we gained Bengali as our state tongue. Now, this day is observed as the International Mother Language Day. It has eventful historical background. Pakistan government tried to impose on us Urdu instead of Bangle. Nevertheless, the students of our country protested this. On 21st February in 1952, they brought out a procession. Nevertheless, the police fired upon the procession and some students died on the spot. Consequently, Bangle was declared as our state tongue. On this day, people wake up early to go to the Shaheed Minar. They gather at Shaheed Minar to show respect to the martyrs offering flowers on the Shaheed Minar. Thus, every year people remember this day with respect. I am proud of this day.
