A Book Fair / Experience of visiting a Book Fair
A fair is a display of different items of necessary things for the consumers or buyers. To get recognition of products widely or to make the products popular a fair is held. Therefore, a book fair does the same purpose as it looks for the readers' interest. A book fair is very much popular with the readers, men of letters and the authors. The largest book fair in our country is held in February to observe the Language Movement Day in the Bangla Academy premises. A book fair promotes the publication of books to spread education and widen the sphere of our knowledge. It increases the readers interest in reading books. Bangla Academy sponsors the fair and different publications make stalls to advertise their respective books. Story books, novels, books on various dramas, books on poems, autobiographical books, books on science and technology, books on raising social awareness, etc. are usually available in a book fair. Recently I have visited a book fair and gathered a lot of experiences. Some writers are also seen sitting in the stalls and their fans gather there for autographs. My personal impression about a book fair is that it helps to spread thoughts and ideas of the great men. However, by patronising, maintaining the discipline and minimising the cost of books, I think, such kind of fair can be made successful.
