The reasons behind acid throwing are quite silly Often a young boy throws acid at a young girl when she refuses to love or marry him. Sometimes, a dowry-hunter husband throws acid on his wife having failed to get his required dowry. It may also happen out of envy and jealousy.
Those who commit this horrible crime may show various reasons. But these are baseless and illogical. Whatever be the causes, the consequence of the victim is really very pathetic and heart rending. Acid destroys and damages the parts of the body where it gets. It gives the victim an indescribable feeling of pain and anguish. The sore becomes incurable. The attacked part remains defected forever. In course of time, the victims recover from the physical pain. But the painful and bitter experience can never be rubbed out from the memory.
Almost everyday we get the news of acid throwing in the newspaper. But it is a matter of great sorrow that no satisfactory measures have been taken so far to prevent it. A violent mass-movement should be launched throughout the country against its spreading. Seminars, symposium, rallies and procession may be arranged to make general people conscious.
However, acid throwing is a hateful evil of a society. It is the lowest social menace. It bears the proof of beastliness, brutality and deep cruelty in human nature. Common people must be conscious and government must take immediate as well as necessary steps to restrain it.
