Comparing the status of women today to that of the past.
The status of women today is not as low as it was in the past. Now-a days women are allowed to participate in all spheres of activity of the society. They are going to schools, colleges and universities. They are trying to educate themselves. They are conscious of their own rights. Now they have access to the parliament. They can participate in politics directly. They are doing jobs in government as well non-government offices. They go to the markets for shopping. They are doing all things without degrading their social as well as family status. They are able to value their own likings and dislikings. They are trying to be self-reliant. But in the ancient age, women were completely dependent on men. They were not allowed to go the educational institutions. They had to stay in the house whole day long. They were prohibited to come out of the house. They did the household chores. They only produced and brought up children. They cooked rice and served the men of the family. Thus the status of women today is greater and more improved than that of the past.
