Democracy and Development - an Interrelationship Composition

Democracy and Development - an Interrelationship

Democracy is the precondition of the development of a country. Where there is democracy, there is development Development becomes easy when democracy prevails in a country. The political parties form democratic rule. They are made up of the union of all classes of people. In a democratic system, discrimination begins to decline among the people. People can opine what they want to express. They can work in a body. So the lasting development becomes possible gradually.

Abraham Lincoln tries to define the nature of a government in his famous "Gettysburg Address". Here he talks about a particular type of government. This government must be formed of the people. It is elected and made by the people and it must work for the people. Indeed, the nature of this government indicates democratic government. In a democratic system, the power to rule over the citizens must be secured from the people themselves. Majority people play a very important role to form this system of government. Thus they take part actively in the development of a country. They can work standing shoulder to shoulder. They can inhale and exhale breath in the time of disaster. They forget the difference in their political idealism and philosophy then.

Democracy itself may be completely different in various social systems. It differs and varies from country to country. It has no one father. It is born and reared in different societies in different ways. But only one slogan is heard from its voice. This single and unique slogan i undoubtedly, 'development'. Democracy brings about development in a hurry. An interrelationship between the two is obvious and inevitable.

Democracy is undoubtedly a system of retaining the voting power of the people. Rather, it is the accurate medium of fulfilling the economic expectation of the people. In a democratic system, the people lease their power to a certain party for a certain period of time. They expect that the concerned party must work for the broader interest of the public as a whole. When it is ensured, development is a must.

However, democracy and development are interrelated to each other. When the first hampers, the latter stumbles. If democracy is a tree, development is a ripe fruit.
