Hobbies vary from person to person. There are many kinds of hobbies including angling, stamp collecting, photography, reading books, gardening etc. My favourite hobby is gardening. I like it most too.
Gardening can give me more pleasure than any other else. It requires physical labour. As I am a student, study is my main pre occupation. I remain confined with study in my classroom for long hours. Hence I want to refresh my mind and body by working in my garden. It removes my worries and anxieties. It is good for health also.
I have a garden in front of my reading room. I work in it whenever I get leisure. I make the soil loose with a spade and weed out the grass and plant new flower-plants in it. I water the plants regularly. I nurse them in the morning and in the evening regularly. I have made a strong fence around my garden so that cattle, fowls and naughty children cannot do them any harm.
I have planted different kinds of flowers like rose, china-rose, marigold, chameli, beli, gandharaj, sunflower, rajanigandha and many other flowers. I have all types of flowers in my garden and it is never without flowers.
I have selected gardening as my hobby mainly because I like flowers. Flowers are source of joy. Every morning I go to the garden. My mind fills with joy when I find blooming flowers in my garden. The beauty of the flowers refreshes my mind. It teaches me to be pure in my thought and activity. The morning air scented with the fragrance of different flowers excites my mind. So I can study with rapt attention. Bees, butterflies and little birds come to collect honey. They produce natural sound and add beauty to it.
Gardening gives me a perfect lesson about life. It gives different flowers which fade away in couse of time. This truth reminds me of a great lyric by Robert Herrick, "To Daffodils”. Thus I find the true meaning of life. Gardening gives me boundless joy and food for my mind. It helps me forget the sad past and give me the truth of human life.
