Self-reliance is a remarkable quality of a man in living with honour and respect in a society. It means self-dependence. It inspires us to stand on our own legs. Actually, a man must stand on his own feet. God helps those who help themselves. Those who are self-reliant are likely to get what they want. But those who sit back and wait only for divine assistance are not likely to get what they want. A man should depend on himself. In other words, he should trust his own ability rather than others for everything. It is the divine law made by God himself. The man who makes an effort to achieve something develops his latent powers. In this way, the powers that he develops give him the ability to achieve his objectives. A self-reliant man regards depending on others as mere begging. He regards it as a matter of self-respect to depend on himself for anything. A dependent man is a burden not only to himself but also to his family and society. He is disliked by all. He always falls behind and ultimately suffers in life. Thus self-reliance has become a very essential virtue for a man. It is a means of living with an uplifted head in a society. So every man should exercise it heart and soul.
