Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that causes adverse change. Water pollution means contaminated water that is harmful for living being. Water, one of the most important elements of our environment, is polluted in many ways. Man pollutes water by throwing waste into it. Farmers use chemical fertilizers and insecticides in their fields. When rain and floods wash away some of these chemicals, they get mixed with water in rivers, canals and ponds. Mills and factories also throw their poisonous chemicals and waste products into rivers and canals and thus pollute the water. Water vehicles also pollute rivers by dumping oil, food waste and human waste into them. Insanitary latrines and unsafe drains standing on river and canal banks are also responsible for further pollution. Many people suffer from water-borne diseases because the JB'13) water they use carries germs of many diseases. When people drink polluted water, they are attacked by the water-borne diseases as cholera and diarrhoea. We all should be conscious of the bad effects of water pollution to save ourselves from the dangers of this pollution.
