Every year we celebrate our National Day with great respect and enthusiasm. 26th March is our national day because in the early hours of the day in 1971 Bangabandhu declared the independence of Bangladesh. On the day we go to the National Memorial at Savar to pay our deep respect to the martyrs who gave their lives for the independence of Bangladesh. People go to the National Memorial to show their homage by keeping wreaths of flowers before the mausoleum. People also pay their respect to the sacrifices of the martyrs by keeping down their heads in front of the mass graveyards. They silently pray for the martyrs there. The day is celebrated with some other formalities in the national life. Bangladesh Army arranges special parade on the day. The national flag is hoisted and the national anthem is sung in many places on the day. This day inspires us to promise for the development of our country.
